Day Two Pictures-Phase Two Tour

I am super grateful to the Lord that He has allowed me to be a part of the Abraham Project for the past five years now. Over the years I have watched my friends believe in faith for the big dreams in their hearts. Day two started with a tour of the property that AP already owns and will soon house four new children's homes.  It makes you consider the dreams in your own heart and if you truly believe God for what feels like is the impossible. I am thankful for my friends that remind me that with God all things are possible.

Day Two.

Day two: The first part of the day I had my quiet time and hung out with The Lord. He showed me new things. At 7:00 we ate an amazing breakfast and headed over to the Abraham Project. Once we got there, the first thing we did was tour the second phase. The second phase was like walking through the jungle. We got to see cool plants bugs. Stephen Jr. told us the story about the wonderful things God has done to provide the Abraham Project the land. Then after touring phase two, I painted a tractor with FaithAnn and we had a lot of fun talking to Bruce, because we were able to hear a little bit of how he enjoys living in Costa Rica and some ways the Lord has changed his life. While I was painting, team B taught daycare and were able to hangout with the kids for a little bit and the other half of team A worked on putting drywall up in a house while they hung out with a worker Sergio.

Later, Stephen jr. and Kendra led us through a devotional about prayer and gave us good scripture to us to advance our prayer life. Soon after the devotional we were split into three groups to pray for the children home kids and know a little more about them. Such a powerful time!

After finishing that we prayed for lunch and ate a delicious lunch made by Sergio's wife. Then the team went to go play basketball with our new friend Lester. Following that we unloaded a truck as a team and team B lathered up in Bug spray and sunscreen and went to go help clear out phase two. While they cleared out the land some of team A degreased a tractor, while Noah and I helped Sergio put drywall up in one of the children's homes. During that time I was able to get to know Noah and Sergio more. Soon after we finished, everyone else came back from phase two. Our bus arrived and we departed to go to Franco's house.

Once got back to Franco's, we hung out a little bit and got ready for dinner, and ate very soon after. We then went back to the Abraham Project for a dessert party with the missionaries and the interns. On the way to the Project we saw gorgeous views of night lights on the mountains. Once we got there we ate some fantastic desserts and talked to everyone. Two really cool parts from that party was that Stephen jr. and Kendra shared with us Sergio's story and how he meet the Lord. It was a very moving testimony and really beautiful to see how the Lord is faithful. My second favorite part of the party, is that Stephen jr. took everyone to the multipurpose room and showed us the beautiful paintings of stars. in glow in the dark paint on this huge ceiling. It was really cool. Pretty soon after the see the "stars" we said good night and went back to Franco's. Once we got there we had a team meeting and Brooke continued to teach us about encounterment and relationship with Jesus and the Father. It was a sweet way to end our day and head quickly on to bed to get rest for day three!

Day one- Working in the Abraham Project

Today was our first full day in Costa Rica, as well as our first experience working with the Abraham Project.

When we first arrived we were immediately greeted by some of the nicest, happiest people I have ever come in contact with. They told us about their lives before and after they started working within the project. They joked with us and automatically made, at least me, feel at home.

We split up into our teams of two, we call them Team A and Team B. Team A was designated to teach lessons to the daycare kids, while Team B was sent off to do some "construction" work. My team and I, Team A, were waiting for the 'okay' so we could proceed inside the classroom. Unfortunately, we had to be pushed back on time, and was not able to have the Lesson for that age group and had to wait until the next class was ready. Meanwhile Team B worked their butts off pulling weeds, derusting tractors, mowing the grass, and painting for the project.

Once the class was ready so was our very first lesson, taught by Gabby Nutt, to the age group of 4-6 years. They were extremely attentive for their age and seemed to grasp the concept rather quickly. We then went to the next room and taught the 3-4 year olds the same lesson on prayer. They had a much shorter attention span than the first group but were very respectful and understanding.

After Stephen gave us a tour of the project and explained to us, in detail, how the project was started and how it thrived. He shared with us stories of the children and the kinds of homes and situations they come from. There was not one person on the team whose heart did not hurt after hearing those stories and the horror that went on. We all gained a new respect for not just the children but the missionaries and the house parents who welcome those kids in with a loving heart.

Once we had all comprehended and processed the reality of it all we ate lunch, played some basketball, as well as spike ball, and were back off to work.

Team A went back to the children but this time was to teach English to the older kids in 6th grade. Really we didn't have to teach much because the children already knew basically everything we were going over, we were more jogging their memory. Team B split up, half painted the tractor, while the other half put up dry wall inside one of the childrens homes. Team A finished with time to spare so we took advantage of our time left and had recess with the 4-6 year olds. We played hot potato but with two soccer balls and when you got caught with one, you had to run into the middle of he circle, find and put on your shoe before the other person did. They loved that game, which is so outstanding to see how the simplest things make those kids faces light up with joy. Lastly, the gringos were challenged to a game of soccer by the 4-6 group. We weren't the best team at soccer but the children could've cared less.

These children here have such great fun hearts and do not take anything for granted. If anyone learned anything from today it would be our Mission Team more than the kids. Today was such a blessing.

Deny Yourself.

It's been a glorious day and we have safely arrived in Costa Rica.

Many of our students averaged around 3-4 hours of sleep last night, eagerly anticipating ALL that God has for them on this trip! A smooth flight plus a slightly longer line 😬 in immigration than we are use to, we were incredibly happy to see Stephen and Kendra on the other side (all bags and luggage made it by the way - thanks for praying! 😍)

Our first meal shared together at RostiPollo for a traditional Costa Rican spread. Then on to what will be home - our beloved Franco's. Dinner and then an evening of cell group with a local Costa Rican family kicked off the first day beautifully.

Today was long, we are tucking into bed... But the message tonight at cell group was denying oneself and picking up the cross. A humble reminder to us all as we fully believe Jesus has sent us here to be His vessels and we pour ourselves out.

Thank you for loving us.
